My name is Daisy! I am a female Papillion mix, about 1 ½ years old (approximate BD: 3/29/15) and I weigh 12 lbs. I am originally from Hope, Arkansas. Somehow, I got separated from my people and ended up at a shelter. No one came to find me, so I eventually got rescued and came to Minnesota.  While I was in Arkansas, I got heartworm disease. They treated me there and I am just fine now. The only thing is that I need to be sure that my new family gives me heartworm preventative every month for the rest of my life. The vet said that is no big deal. Many vets even recommend that for all dogs anyway.

I am very healthy and active right now.  Minnesota is really different than Arkansas. There is something here that is cold and white called snow, that I never saw until I came here. I found out that it is really fun to run around in it! (See video) It is hard for me to remember that I should go potty while I am outside instead of just running around in the snow.  I will stay in a crate if you want me to without having any potty accidents, even if I am in there for 8 or 9 hours. Sometimes I bark for a while when I am first put in a crate. I am getting pretty good at my potty training if my foster mom remembers to take me out often enough. Sometimes I have accidents. I have to get used to living in a house. I got some bad habits when I was a stray. No one cares where you go potty when you are living outside.

Even though I will stay in a crate, I would prefer not to be in one. I am good about leaving things that don’t belong to me alone when I am allowed to be loose. I do like to jump onto couches, chairs, and low tables, though, when I am not in my crate.  I like to play with other dogs and I like toys. I even go into the toy basket at my foster home and choose my own toys. (See video) I also like to sit on the lap of my human when they are relaxing on the couch. I am a good snuggler and I like to give kisses. I have never met any cats, so I don’t know whether I like them or not. I like every person I have met, even the little ones if they know how to treat small dogs like me.

My foster mom always laughs at me when I start “talking.” She says that I sound like the teachers and parents talking in the Charlie Brown cartoons!  If you think I might be a dog that you want to add to your family, just fill out an application to get a chance to have my foster mom and I come to meet you.
