Hi, my name is Hugo. I am a wire-haired terrier/Chihuahua mix. I weigh 9 lbs. I am just the right size to fit on your lap and that is where I love to be. I am also a very good kisser! I found my way into rescue because I got separated from my family and ended up as a stray. I was then put into a shelter for a while. I was very shy in the shelter. It was a loud, scary place. Then I got rescued and went to live in a foster home.  I live with several other dogs and I get along well with them, except I’m a little scared of the bigger one that barks in my face. I like to play chase and wrestle with the other dogs, but not the big rude one. I have not met any cats, so I don’t know whether I like them or not.

I love playing a game called fetch. I run and get the ball and then I go play with it. I think I might be doing the game wrong, though, because my foster mom tells me to “drop it” and then takes the ball and throws it again. I like to chew on bones also, especially the ones with a treat inside.  I am getting pretty good at potty training and am working on being good in my crate. When I am in my crate at night, I prefer to be where I can at least see my foster mom. I can be in my crate for about 6 hours without having potty accidents.  The part about crates that I am not the best at yet is wanting to go into it. Once I am in there, I am mostly OK, but I sometimes bark or whine a little at first.  When I am not in my crate during the day, I find lots of things to do. I am part Terrier, so I am able to jump pretty high. I really like it if my foster mom forgets to
shut the gate and I get into the kitchen. I can jump onto the chairs and then I can get onto the table. Sometimes I find good things to eat up there. My foster mom isn’t happy when I do that. She always raises her voice and says “off!” I guess that means I shouldn’t be up there.

I love to sit on my person’s lap and snuggle and I am especially good at giving kisses.  If you think I sound like a dog that you would want to have in your family, all you need to do is fill out an application and my foster mom and I will come meet you.
