I am Desmond, a little black lab-mix puppy, born on August 20th , looking for a fur-ever home. Our mama is very sweet and affectionate, and our foster mom says we are all very fortunate to have inherited her friendly and loving nature. My siblings and I are quite adventurous and love exploring our environment – it’s amazing how many things we can find that can be chewed! We also love wrestling with one another and playing with our toys – balls and tug ropes are our favorites. Of course, all this playing makes puppies rather hungry, but we’re not fussy eaters at all, so a big bowl of kibble easily takes care of that. During the day we stay in a contained area in the kitchen and use the time to rest up and get ready for lots of activity when our foster mom gets home. We’re getting pretty good about using the potty pads while our foster mom is at work or when we’re allowed to play outside of the pen. Of course, sometimes we forget about the pads, but then our foster mom just shakes her head and says, “No, no – smart puppies use pads”, and then we try and remember next time. We love meeting new people and children, but haven’t met any cats yet. Mama told us we mustn’t chase them when we meet one, though, as they have sharp claws and are quick to smack naughty puppies. She says chipmunks and squirrels are fair game though, so we’re very excited about exploring outside and learning to go on long walks once we have had all of our shots. If you are looking for a friendly and smart puppy to complete your family – look no further! I would love to come and live with you, and promise to fill your home with love.

Desmond is completing treatment for sarcoptes, a contagious mite. Because this mite is contagious to other dogs and cats, only adoptive homes with no other animals will be considered at this time for a foster-to-adopt arrangement. The applicant will take over fostering until treatment and other vetting is completed at which time we can then finalize the adoption. Please let us know if you have questions regarding our foster-to-adopt program or sarcoptes.
